About Absolute Akhal-Teke

Following a very successful 20 year career as a thoroughbred jockey, I have become wholeheartedly involved with the elegant and athletic breed known as the Akhal-Teke. This horse has intrigued me from a young age, and I have been very fortunate in making the acquaintance of Mr. Tito Pontecorvo, a major breeder of these lovely equines.

Throughout my career, I have ridden many great horses, champions, and have ridden all over North America, Trinidad and Japan. I have competed successfully in major stake races - Breeders Cup, Queens Plate, Trinidad Derby - and many more.
I have been voted outstanding rider by my fellow jockeys several years, and have been in the leading rider standings numerous times. The coveted Avelino Gomez Award was bestowed on me and was the pinnacle of my career. I was the only woman to receive this award, which is given to a Canadian who has made an outstanding contribution to racing.

I have held the title of leading female rider in Canada for many years in both money won and number of wins.When I retired 2 1/2 years ago, I had won 933 races.

With my knowledge of racing and the inherent racing abilities of the Akhal-Teke, it is my wish to establish such racing in North America. I have significant connections and with enough interest, we could start racing in this country.

The Akhal-Teke is a very versatile animal, excelling in many disciplines. As breeders and owners, we should strive to prove their prowess in dressage, jumping, eventing, endurance and of course racing, which is a major criteria in grading Akhla-Tekes in Russia.
